Conclusion

This project has made me think more about my approach to photography, especially fashion photography. I've have also tried new skills techniques as well as using existing skills. From having just one word as you main idea for you image can help create many ideas. It made me think more about the set up of the shot as well as the message being portrayed. I also decided to expand my fashion photography skills in this project by the doing an outdoor shoot. Doing an outdoor shoot makes you think more about the surrounding areas of the images as well as the model. I also did a studio shoot, hut again I still find myself learning new skills by doing this. I choose consciously to take my images landscape in my shoot as well as portrait to give myself more options. I opted for the landscape because I think it make the images different and a different way of working.

Planning of Presentation of Work

It's important to plan how I am going to present my work. I want to present all my images together in frame as a form of grid. I have also edited my images in black and white and colour so there are options there is how the present the images with the two different styles of editing. Below are some pictures of different ideas of how to present my work. I tried experimenting with the frame landscape and portrait and also the positions of the images. I also plan to have the background black on the final outcomes as I think it will make the images stand out more rather than a white background.

Ellis Parrinder

I've looked at the work of Ellis Parrinder who is a commercial/fashion photographer who mainly basis most of his work in studios. His work is often used in adverting, CD covers and in magazines. For my second shoot I kept the landscape of my images and also used the rule of thirds. Parrinder has also done this in these images below. He has kept the model to one side of the frame creating more impact on the image. You eyes are drawn to the model first because of the rule of thirds, this is also emphasized by the negative space, this is also shown in my work.

Final Outcomes from Shoot Two

Shoot 2

For my second shoot I choose to do a studio shoot. I still continued with the fashion photography theme, but focused more on the fashion of the clothes to express the words. I used a white background and lights for my set up. I took my photos using a Canon EOS 350d 50-85 lens with an attached flash gun. I decided to continue with the landscape shots in this hoot like in the previous. I think taking portraits landscape also adds a different edge to my photographs.
Below are my thumbnails from my shoot, I have flagged the images I'm going to use.

Final Outcomes from Shoot One

Here are the final images from this shoot.

Shoot One

For my first shoot I was inspired by the Burberry Autumn/Winter adverts by Mario Testino. I wanted to take my shots in a city which was chic and cultral in it's surroundings. I took my images for this shoot on a Canon EOS 350d, using a Tamron 80 - 200 zoom lens.
The images from this shoot have turned out extremely well and really echo those of the Burberry advertisements. I also considered the styling for this shoot as well to achieve these classy looking images. The model wore checked riding trousers with a cream blouse, accessorized with rain macs, fur scarves, moccasin shoes and brogue heels. This styling has also be inspired of the clothes designed by Burberry. When it came to editing my images I looked at the work of David Bailey. David Bailey uses black and white photography to it's full potential so I wanted to try and achieve this in my images. I opted for a dark contrast on my images which I think helps enhance the oldness and culture of the surrounding city.

Here is the thumbnails from my shoot, I've flagged the best images from the shoot.

David Bailey

I've looked at David Bailey's work especially at his fashion photography and black and white photography. When it came to editing my pictures I opted for black and white as I felt it added to the glamour of the images. David Bailey uses black and white strongly in his work with the perfect balance of brightness and contrast, often mixed with the use of positive and negative space.

Mario Testino

http://mariotestino.com/

Mario Testino is a well know fashion photographer best know for his work published in Vogue and Vanity Fair as well as photography for some of the biggest fashion houses including Burberry, Dolce and Gabbana and Gucci.

I've looked at this campaign Mario Testino took for Burberry's Autumn/Winter 2005 collection. This collection of images have all been taken outdoors and reflect the season by the fashion worn including macs. They have a very chic feel too the images as well reflecting Burberry's image. The images have used the rule of thirds strongly, the model being in the right hand or the left hand side of the frame. They are also in black and white, with a dark contrast again supporting the Autumn/Winter campaign.
